Vintage Guyatone-Prestige Guitar For Sale-Demo

This is a brief demonstration to display that all is working on this old vintage Mosrite body style guitar. It seems to still have the original strings. No effects here, just plugged directly into a peavy backstage transistor amp on both distorted and clean. The guitar appears to have sat in a closet for most of its life with but one or two dings. The hardware is in good shape (not perfect 8 out 10) but the thin chrome plating on the pick up covers has flaking in spots. There is also a small crack at the bottom of the pick guard however, all is in tack and it is still in one piece. All minor. Bidding will start at $37 on EBAY. Guyatone was the first known Japanese guitar manufacturer to directly offer their product line to the American public. The first ad for Guyatone Guitars appears in 1959 and depicted the EG-80B/60B & EG-80H. Later Kent Musical instrument Company, a subsidiary of Buegeleisen & Jacobson, became one of the largest distributors of Guyatone guitars sporting the "Kent" name badge or more rarely seen "K" logo. In April of 1962 Kent/B&J announced their line of imported Japanese guitars under the "Kent" house-brand name. By the Fall of 1962 Kent's imported line of guitars was put together in two sub-groups. The lower end produced by Teisco (later Kawai / Teisco after their merger in 1967) called the Standard Series was made up of 5 guitars and one bass. The Pro-Series, however, was made up of higher end instruments from Guyatone including 4 guitars (with a <b>...</b> |

This video was taken at 30th street guitars, definitely one of the best guitar stores in New York, it is filled with amazing gear, in house custom guitars, boutique and vintage amps, and a staff that actually knows what they are talking about. Really nice environment and they even have a separate room if you wanted to really check out a piece of gear in private, like a nice tele and a vibrolux amp :) Gear used is an original 1962 Fender Bass VI into a late 50s Bassman (tweed of course) amp. As soon as i plugged it in i heard the sound these guitars were meant to make. This is the ultimate Bass VI set up and i got it on film! |
